Amazon Prime Video launches AI lip-sync dubbing for Maxton Hall

Amazon Prime Video is rolling out AI-powered lip-sync dubbing that matches actors’ mouths to dubbed audio, initially for Maxton Hall’s English dub.

In its announcement, Prime Video said the feature uses a combination of AI and visual effects technologies to make lip movements match translated speech. The move comes after Meta and YouTube recently introduced AI-powered auto-dubbing for creators, with an optional “lip sync” setting that makes creators appear to speak a viewer’s preferred language.

Prime Video began testing “AI-aided” dubbing in English and Spanish last year across 12 movies and TV shows, including El Cid: La Leyenda, Mi Mamá Lora and Long Lost. The streamer’s lip-sync dubbing is now available for seasons 1 and 2 of Maxton Hall to subscribers around the globe, and will launch when the show’s third season arrives on December 9.
