Apple launches AppleCare One Family plan at $50 per month
Apple has introduced AppleCare One Family in the US at $50 per month, covering eligible devices for up to six people, with theft and loss claims capped at six yearly.
The plan was announced at Apple's launch event for the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18. According to Apple's official page for the insurance, the tier covers all plan members' eligible devices, which are typically most Apple products less than four years old. Members can add old devices, and any newly purchased product that uses their Apple ID will be automatically included.
The Family tier differs from existing AppleCare options. The basic AppleCare+ plan covers only one device, while AppleCare One for individuals covers three devices, all of which must be registered under the subscriber's Apple ID. The Family plan is limited to six theft and loss claims per year, or one per person if there are six members. AppleCare+ gives subscribers two claims, and AppleCare One for individuals allows up to three claims.
Beyond theft and loss coverage, the family plan includes other AppleCare+ benefits such as battery replacement at no cost and repairs for accidental damage, damaged screens and back glass.
To sign up for AppleCare One Family, customers must first set up Family Sharing. On an Apple device, they go to Settings, then their Apple ID, then Family. They tap the icon in the top right corner of the screen and invite up to five members. After setup, they go to AppleCare & Warranty in General under Settings to start a subscription.
