Beats 360 Firmware Update Signals Possible Launch Later This Month After Apple Event

The firmware update is the latest evidence pointing to a Beats 360 launch in September. TechRadar said there is no indication of what the update does, and that the contents matter less than the timing. The fact that Apple is updating the headphones at all suggests a release is close.

Apple held its big annual product unveiling on September 9, around 14 hours before TechRadar's report was published on September 10. The event brought upgrades to the AirPods 5, which TechRadar described as offering the best features of the AirPods Pro. But those changes were small consolation for people hoping for broader audio announcements. There were no AirPods with cameras, no HomePods upgrade despite teasing, and no new Beats headphones.

The absence of Beats from Apple's event does not rule out a new Beats device, according to TechRadar. Apple generally lets its Beats sub-brand operate independently. TechRadar said it would have been bizarre if the Beats 360 had been shown off at the Apple event for that reason.

The Beats 360 has been rumored for months and has already been seen in public. According to TechRadar, Apple gave the headphones to multiple soccer World Cup players to show off during the tournament. Those appearances, along with leaks, have revealed much about how the Beats 360 looks. TechRadar said the headphones appear to be a big step up from what has been seen, but as the launch of a new range, it is hard to know how they will compare with existing models.

Timing may also point to a September release. Beats' last product launch was in October 2025, when it showed off the Powerbeats Fit. TechRadar said the brand could use the same late-September to early-October window for its new device. Only the Beats 360 has been heard about, but that does not rule out siblings in other form factors.
