Netherlands to Replace 25,000 Government Jobs With AI; Microsoft Offers 60,000 Buyouts
Netherlands to replace 25,000 govt jobs with AI to save €3.5bn; Microsoft offers 60,000 buyouts, TechRadar says.
TechRadar reported that the Dutch plan would replace 25,000 government positions with AI, describing the move as an efficiency drive intended to save €3.5 billion. The report focused on the scale of the planned job replacements and the projected savings.
In a separate TechRadar report, Microsoft offered 60,000 workers the option of voluntary redundancy. The report said the AI revolution could mean a quarter of the company's workforce can now leave, and it described the buyout as a voluntary option for employees.
Both reports were published by TechRadar on the same day. The Dutch figure concerns planned replacements of government jobs, while Microsoft's figure concerns a buyout offer to workers.
