Acer's Predator Atlas 8 to Launch in US on Nov. 1 for $1,299.99
Acer's Predator Atlas 8 handheld comes to the US Nov. 1 via Best Buy for $1,299.99 in its Intel Arc G3 Extreme edition.
The device was announced in May, when Acer announced two models. Only the more powerful Intel Arc G3 Extreme variant will be sold in the US, according to Engadget. The Verge listed the price as $1,299.99, while Engadget reported it as $1,300.
The Atlas 8 includes Intel Arc B390 graphics with 12 Xe3 GPU cores and 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM, according to both reports. Engadget reported that the display is an 8-inch, 500-nit 120Hz IPS panel. The device also has dual-mode triggers, TMR joysticks and high-bandwidth docking, and it can be used as a handheld or in a docked setup, according to the reports.
Both reports said it runs Windows 11 and supports Xbox Game Pass. Engadget reported additional features including a microSD UHS-II slot, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. The Verge noted that the Atlas 8 is priced the same as the Xbox Ally X20.
Best Buy preorders that opened last week are already sold out, according to The Verge. Engadget, citing the retailer, said the preorders sold out immediately. Acer said online orders will open again on Nov. 1 alongside in-store availability, according to The Verge.
Engadget reported that Acer last month unveiled the Predator Atlas 7, a smaller model with a 7-inch display that also uses the Intel Arc G3 Extreme chip. There is no word yet on whether that model will also be sold in the United States, according to Engadget.
