Alibaba Cloud Enters Gartner Leaders Quadrant for Strategic Cloud Platform Services
Alibaba Cloud became the only China and Asia-Pacific vendor in Gartner's 2026 Strategic Cloud Platform Services Leaders quadrant, with 33.9% CIPS revenue growth.
Gartner said the global cloud infrastructure and platform services market reached $297 billion in 2025, and the vendors included in the Magic Quadrant accounted for 97.8% of that market. Alibaba Cloud's revenue in the cloud infrastructure and platform services market grew 33.9% in 2025, the highest growth among the six vendors for which the report disclosed growth rates.
The report said Alibaba Cloud is transforming from a traditional Cloud Infra provider into an AI Native and Agent Native Cloud provider through a vertically integrated "Super AI Cloud" strategy. Gartner said the strategy covers self-developed chips, the Qwen model family, AI platforms and enterprise applications, providing support for high-performance AI workloads and broad developer adoption.
Alibaba Cloud's full-stack AI cloud capabilities span infrastructure, models, platforms and applications. At the infrastructure layer, T-Head's Zhenwu series AI chips provide high-performance computing support. At the model layer, the open-source Qwen family has released more than 460 models, surpassed 3 billion global downloads and generated more than 300,000 derivative models. From January to July this year, Qwen recorded 2.045 billion downloads on Hugging Face, continuing to lead the global open-source model community.
At the platform layer, Alibaba Cloud's Agent Native Cloud and Bailian large model service platform offer enterprise-grade agent tools and full-chain AI engineering capabilities. At the application layer, Qwen Office is described as the industry's first product to support desktop agents, cloud agents and enterprise collaboration agents simultaneously, designed to improve efficiency for organizations and individuals facing real AI needs.
Gartner identified Alibaba Cloud's competitive advantages in public cloud architecture, AI and machine learning capabilities, distributed cloud architecture, and security and stability. In AI workload optimization, Alibaba Cloud uses specialized solutions including the Lingjun intelligent computing platform, Cloud Parallel File Storage CPFS and T-Head Zhenwu chips to improve large-model training and inference performance and reduce customers' total cost of ownership for AI projects.
Alibaba Cloud's global infrastructure now covers 31 regions and 106 availability zones, making it one of the world's largest cloud computing networks. The company is continuing to build out its global cloud infrastructure in key markets including South Korea, France, Japan, Malaysia and Mexico, while rolling out AI products and services across Europe, East Asia, Southeast Asia and Latin America.
In overseas markets, Alibaba's AI products are also expanding. The company is deploying the international version of Bailian, Qwen and Wanxiang models, as well as Agentic AI products such as AgentRun, STAROps and ACS Agent Sandbox. Brazilian technology solutions provider Jnsi is using Alibaba Cloud's global cloud and AI capabilities to offer digital transformation solutions to local enterprises, while open-source software and enterprise IT services company 4Linux is combining Alibaba Cloud's Qwen open-source models with local services to help companies explore generative AI applications.
For hybrid cloud management, Alibaba Cloud provides a highly integrated hybrid cloud experience through Apsara Stack, using a unified management console to improve efficiency and reduce operational complexity between public and private clouds. The Gartner Magic Quadrant for Strategic Cloud Platform Services is one of the most authoritative evaluations of cloud platform vendors, assessing product technology strength, global influence and commercial success. The 2026 report covers major global cloud vendors, and Alibaba Cloud is the only Chinese and Asia-Pacific vendor in the Leaders quadrant.
