Android Authority poll finds Android loyalty strong as iOS curiosity persists

Poll: 52.8% of Android Authority readers are “Android for life,” 29.2% would consider iOS, 17.9% carry both.

The poll drew 1,265 respondents. Of those, 52.8% described themselves as “Android for life.” Another 17.9% said they carry both an iOS and an Android device, splitting the difference between the two platforms. The poll followed Android Authority’s Harish Jonnalagadda spending three weeks with the iPhone 18 Pro Max and coming away with a fairly positive opinion, the publication said.

Reader comments reflected both firm preference and frustration. Alistair Parsons said he had used Android for 16 years and supports dozens of clients who use iPhones, but finds even basic tasks on an iPhone frustrating; he also said a client was amazed last week by his Android phone’s live wallpaper. Kawshik Ahmed was less interested in the debate and asked how to block iOS, iPhone, iPad and Apple-related articles on the site.

Among those open to iOS, Roderick Torres said he used Android from 2010 to 2015 and then iPhone until 2021, when he felt Apple was lagging. He said the Pixel 6’s price drew him back, and that competition may be catching up again with a new CEO, but he cited Pixel’s lack of consistency as a concern. Matthew Hutter, a Pixel user, replied that he had recently returned to Android with the Pixel 10 Pro XL. He said he loved older Pixels, came back to iOS two years ago and was pleasantly surprised, then bought a Pixel 10 XL this year because of a good deal; he said the experience has been far from the Pixel 6 days and he thinks he is going back to iOS.

Android Authority also pointed to an April poll that asked what readers would miss most about Android if they left for an iPhone. Customization led with 49.9%, followed by multitasking features at 19.5%, notification controls at 15.5% and Android-only apps at 15.1%.
