Apple Opens AirPods 5 Pre-Orders as Retailers Discount Apple Watch Series 12 and Refurb M5 MacBook Air

Apple opened AirPods 5 pre-orders from $129, Amazon began discounting Apple Watch Series 12 pre-orders, and Apple’s refurbished store listed a 13-inch M5 MacBook Air at $1,099, according to 9to5Mac.

AirPods 5 pre-orders are live at $129 for the base set and $149 for the higher-end model with a wireless charging case. An ongoing Amazon deal puts the flagship AirPods Pro 3 at $199, down from a regular $249, or $50 more than the base AirPods 5. Both new AirPods 5 models include active noise cancellation, a feature last year’s base model lacked. The higher-priced AirPods 5 set adds a wireless charging case, while on-stem volume controls are available on the AirPods Pro 3. The AirPods Pro 3 also offer a sealed fit, longer battery life, up to three times more active noise cancellation and heart rate sensing.

Amazon has already cut $9 from a 42mm Apple Watch Series 12 GPS + Cellular configuration, listing it at $489.99 with delivery expected Sept. 18. The regular Series 12 lineup is priced at $399 for 42mm GPS, $449 for 46mm GPS, $490 for 42mm GPS + Cellular, $549 for 46mm GPS + Cellular, $699 for 42mm Titanium, $749 for 46mm Titanium and $949 for 46mm Ceramic. Best Buy is offering up to $325 off Apple Watch Series 12 or Ultra 4 pre-orders through enhanced trade-in offers.

The Apple Certified Refurbished Store has restocked the base 13-inch M5 MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage at $1,099, $200 below its regular $1,299 price. It is available in Midnight, Starlight and Sky Blue. An earlier sentence in the 9to5Mac report described the refurbished machine as a 13-inch M5 MacBook Pro, but the headline and later details identify it as an M5 MacBook Air. Apple’s refurbished units include a one-year limited warranty, a 14-day return policy, AppleCare eligibility and Apple’s refurbishment process.

Among other deals, Apple’s MagSafe Battery is back at $59 on Amazon, a 40% discount and an all-time low, while a next-generation 2026 Apple Polishing Cloth is listed at $9 with Prime shipping. A next-generation Arc Pulse metal bumper case for the iPhone 18 Pro is also available. Amazon has M6 Mac mini pre-order discounts live ahead of delivery this month, and the 9to5Mac report said delivery day is approaching for the all-new M6 Mac mini and an M5 Pro model.
