Apple releases iOS 27.2 with Siri AI memory, dual-camera FaceTime and 329 security fixes
Apple released iOS 27.2 with Siri AI recall, dual-camera FaceTime and at least 329 security fixes across its systems.
According to ZDNet, Siri AI can now recall previous conversations, allowing users to ask about topics discussed earlier and have Siri pick up the thread in a new chat. Siri can also draw on voicemails, Safari reading list and history, photos in text messages, and people invited to calendar events, and users can choose which apps Siri and iOS Search spotlight may access.
FaceTime gains dual-camera support, letting users run the front and rear cameras at the same time on an individual or group call; the other participant also needs iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2 or macOS 27.2. Apple also added support for a third-party sign language interpreter or live captioner on video calls for deaf and hearing-impaired users.
ZDNet reported that Multiview Expansion is now available on iPhone, allowing up to four live sporting events at once, including Major League Soccer, Formula 1 in the US and Friday Night Baseball doubleheaders, with an Apple TV subscription. F1 races offer driver-view cameras and course maps. Messages now suggests actions based on conversation context, such as adding a calendar event or reminder. Podcasts displays two Up Next rows for new episodes and continue playing. Shared Albums adds editing for captions and comments, duplicate-photo avoidance and expiry alerts. On the iPhone Duo, the update supports the USB-C Apple Pencil and an Edge Light video feature for low-light calls.
The Health app redesign shown in the iOS 27.2 beta is not in the release; ZDNet reported Apple is likely holding it for iOS 27.3 in December. The update follows iOS 27.0.1, a late-September release that fixed a Face ID freeze bug on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, and iOS 27.1, which was reserved for the iPhone Duo. Users can install the update through Settings, General and Software Update.
9to5Mac reported that Apple's security releases page lists fixes across iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, iOS 26.7.2 and iPadOS 26.7.2, iOS 18.7.11 and iPadOS 18.7.11, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, tvOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2 and Safari 27.2. The 329 unique vulnerabilities produced 1,265 CVE listings because many affect multiple operating systems, and the count may rise as Apple updates its advisories.
Among the fixes, 9to5Mac cited CVE-2026-86990, a CoreMedia issue that could let a malicious app access the camera without permission on iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Vision Pro; CVE-2026-86987, an Apple Intelligence flaw that could let a remote attacker access sensitive user data on supported iPhones and iPads; and CVE-2026-43736, a Siri vulnerability in macOS Tahoe that could let an app access sensitive user data. Apple also fixed WebKit flaws that could allow malicious web content to execute arbitrary code.
The updates also bring a previously released CoreGraphics fix to devices on iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. 9to5Mac reported that the flaw, CVE-2026-86950, could allow a maliciously crafted file to execute arbitrary code and may have been exploited in a sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals running versions of iOS before iOS 27. tvOS 26.6.1 for Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K first generation has no published CVE entries.
