Apple Releases iOS 27.2 with Siri Upgrades, New Apple Music Icon
Apple has started rolling out iOS 27.2, bringing expanded Siri personal context, additional Siri languages, SynthID labeling for AI images, a black-and-white Apple Music icon, and new Messages and FaceTime features.
Siri can now draw on more personal context sources, including voicemails, photos attached to messages, and calendar event attendees. The update also expands Siri AI to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. Other AI features have been improved: SynthID labeling is now added to Image Playground creations and substantially edited photos, such as those that have had the Reframe or Extend tools used on them, making it harder for people to pass off AI images as real.
Apple Music receives a new black-and-white icon instead of the previous red one, bringing it more in line with the company’s other recent iconography. The Messages app now offers tappable suggestions that appear based on context; for example, if someone invites you to an event, it might prompt you to add it to your calendar.
Dual Capture is now available in group FaceTime calls, allowing users to show content on both the front and rear cameras simultaneously. The iPhone Duo has also received updates, adding support for the USB-C Apple Pencil and an Edge Light to brighten the user’s face in video calls.
Smaller changes include tweaks to the layout of the Podcasts app and an anniversary reminder on phone calls. Users can download iOS 27.2 by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
