Baidu Health says AI service MAU tops 50 million, launches Good Doctor Matrix and Health Camera

Baidu Health says AI service MAU topped 50 million and launched a Good Doctor Matrix and Health Camera.

The Good Doctor Matrix includes Good Doctor Answer, Good Doctor Registration, Good Doctor Talk, Good Doctor Rankings and Good Doctor Reviews. Baidu Health said the matrix connects AI-assisted triage and information sorting with real doctors for online consultation and offline treatment. Yang Minglu, general manager of Baidu Health, said the value of AI in healthcare should be measured not only by how many users it serves but by whether it can take responsibility for every life. Yang said the company will keep investing in the AI plus real doctor model, with doctors retaining decision-making authority: AI empowers but does not replace, assists but does not dominate.

Baidu Health described Health Camera as the first of its kind to support direct video upload and voice-over while filming. It adds video to text, dialect voice and photo inputs. The company said the feature is intended to lower the threshold for describing health problems, especially for elderly users, people who are not comfortable speaking Mandarin and patients whose skin symptoms or body movements are hard to explain in words. Baidu Health said dynamic physical signs and the relative positions of multiple symptoms can be seen clearly. The recognition capability was trained on more than 3 million multimodal imaging materials, over 100 million diagnosis-and-treatment logic learning instances and tens of millions of real-time corrections by professional doctors, according to the company. Baidu Health cited data showing 47% of China's 700 million AI users have used AI tools for health information.

Good Doctor Answer consultation room has 150,000 doctors from top-tier hospitals providing online service around the clock, with responses in as fast as one minute, according to the report. Users can reach the service by searching Baidu Health or related health questions on the Baidu App. AI first organizes symptoms, test results, duration and medical history, then matches the user with a doctor in a relevant specialty; the doctor asks follow-up questions and gives a diagnosis or solution. Li Xiang, product head of Wenxin Health Assistant, said the core is not to replace doctors but to combine AI's efficiency in understanding, summarizing and interacting with real doctors' expertise so that answers are more authoritative and evidence-based. The service covers dermatology, internal medicine, traditional Chinese medicine and gynecology and is free for a limited time.

Good Doctor Registration is designed to connect patients with hospital doctors. Baidu Health said it supports appointments up to 30 days in advance, covers all regions and departments in China and more than 80% of public tertiary hospitals. More than 50,000 doctors have opened the service, providing over 120,000 extra slots a day; the approval rate is 70%, and nearly 6 million appointments have been completed, according to the company. At the launch event, Yang Keming, a professor at Fuwai Hospital under the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, described a case in which a parent in Zhengzhou applied for an extra slot for a 2-year-old child with congenital heart disease; the request was approved and surgery was scheduled. Baidu Health said such appointments are currently public-welfare slots.

Baidu Health said more than 130 million users search for health questions on Baidu every day. It cited its 360,000-plus doctors, more than 430 top medical institutions and over 10 billion health data records as the base for its AI services. The company said its medical report interpretation has been used more than 27 million times in the past year, with accuracy above 98%, and skin disease recognition accuracy reaches 95%. It also cited a China Academy of Information and Communications Technology report that ranked Wenxin Health Assistant first in four capabilities: report interpretation, skin disease recognition, medicine box recognition and traditional Chinese medicine tongue diagnosis.

At the event, Fan Daiming, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chairman of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, discussed the association's CACA guidelines and a CACA Bot built with Baidu AI. He said AI is an amplifier for making medicine accessible, turning lengthy guidelines into a tool that doctors and patients can consult, but that AI can only expand the boundaries of capability and cannot replace doctors' judgment. He said human-machine collaboration is the right path.

Baidu Health also launched a Good Doctor Open Plan, saying it will open its resource matrix and AI capabilities to industry partners for free. The plan is open to chronic disease management apps, smart health hardware, health insurance benefit platforms, pharmacy O2O services and corporate employee health services, with MCP, API and H5 access and support for scenario customization, hardware integration and data co-building. The company also started a Good Doctor Alliance with a 100 million yuan cash fund for doctors, 100 high-quality doctor IPs and 10,000 doctors; 2 trillion inference tokens in computing resources for medical associations and expert groups to build Skills for 1,000 diseases; and a smart hospital 2.0 plan for 100 hospitals, aiming to match 8 million patients to hospitals. Li Jie, general manager of Baidu Health's doctor services department, said the alliance will use AI to support doctors' professional review at key steps and extend services into real medical scenarios.

Editor's Summary

Baidu Health reported more than 50 million monthly active users for its AI services and launched a Good Doctor Matrix and Health Camera to link AI-assisted consultation with real doctors and hospital appointments. The company is expanding its AI-plus-real-doctor model through free online doctor access, extra appointment slots and an open plan for partners. The results will depend on how well the model balances AI efficiency with medical responsibility and doctor-led judgment.
