ChangXin Rejects Apple Orders as Anthropic Files for Public Listing

ChangXin Memory reportedly turned down Apple and other overseas orders to prioritize Chinese demand; Anthropic filed for a listing showing an $80.7 billion half-year loss.

Apple had sought a memory supply quota from ChangXin at prices more favorable than those offered by Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron, but ChangXin did not accept the price-cut conditions, SEMI reported, citing industry sources. A Taiwan server manufacturer that planned to buy ChangXin's DDR5 memory also failed to reach a contract. The refusals reflect tight capacity as ChangXin works to meet Chinese demand; it already supplies LPDDR6 DRAM to Xiaomi and other local partners, the report said. A semiconductor industry observer said meeting domestic DRAM demand could be a decade-long task, while companies such as Huawei and Xiaomi are expected to rely less on Samsung and SK Hynix.

Anthropic's filing, reported by Leiphone, disclosed a net loss of $80.7 billion for the half-year and said the company could list as early as mid-November. The report did not give the exchange or the size of the offering.

Zhou, former technical lead of Alibaba's Tongyi Qianwen, joined ByteDance in August 2024 and now heads visual multimodal generation for the Doubao model, according to public information.

Apple's first folding phone, iPhone Duo, drew user complaints after sales began, with some users reporting bright lines and cracked screens, according to Kuai Technology. Li Nan, founder of Angry Miao, wrote that the problems reflected Apple's loosened ties with its supply chain. He said Chinese phone makers had shipped multiple generations of foldables and accumulated experience in design trade-offs and process limits, while Apple's teams had fewer opportunities to work closely with production-line engineers.

SAIC Audi can continue selling four-ring products normally until the end of 2027, and after-sales service for both brand lines will continue.
