Doubao Work Adds Recordable Computer Skills and Lock-Screen Task Execution

Doubao Work adds recordable computer skills and lock-screen task execution, Leiphone reports.

The update also improves the precision and speed of screen clicks, Leiphone reported. After a user authorizes the feature, Doubao Work can view the computer screen and simulate mouse and keyboard operations in applications when asked in a chat. The assistant previously supported cross-app operations and recording browser operations as skills; it can now record computer operations and save a demonstration as a reusable skill.

Users can find 'Record operations to generate a skill' under 'More skills' in the chat interface. After completing authorization, they can operate the computer as usual and add requirements by voice. For example, when organizing files, a user can say 'only organize this folder and name files by date' to specify the scope and naming rules. During recording, Doubao Work records mouse clicks, typed text and window content. Users can cancel at any time, and the report said users should avoid showing sensitive information such as account passwords.

When recording ends, Doubao Work organizes the operation process and explanation into a personal skill. For later tasks of the same type, users can select the skill and state the object and requirements for that run, reducing the need to repeat the steps. The report said multi-step operations, temporary conditions and processing habits can thus be saved from one demonstration as a callable skill.

For task execution, users can go to 'Settings - Work task mode settings' and enable 'Allow Doubao to work when the screen is locked.' After authorization, Doubao Work can continue computer-operation tasks while the Mac is locked. Users away from the computer can also send tasks to the locked Mac from a phone and view results on the phone; after returning and unlocking, they can take over. The Mac must remain powered on, connected to the internet, running the Doubao client and awake, according to the report.

The report said the upgrade comes as AI agents move into real work scenarios, with Computer Use becoming an important capability for operating software and executing tasks. It said the ability to save familiar operations as reusable skills and to continue tasks after Mac lock screen can reduce repeated instructions and the need to stay at the computer. It added that ordinary users may hand some repetitive operations to AI and leave more time for judgment, creation and work requiring experience.

Editor's Summary Doubao Work has added the ability to record computer operations as reusable skills and to continue tasks after a Mac is locked, according to Leiphone. The update also improves screen-click precision and speed and requires the Mac to stay on, online, running the client and awake for lock-screen tasks. Users must authorize the features and should avoid recording sensitive information.
