Google Releases Native Gemini App for Windows 10 and 11
Google has released a native Gemini app for Windows 10 and 11, adding Alt+Space access and integration with Gmail, Drive, Gemini Spark, Nano Banana and Gemini Omni.
Google announced on X that the @GeminiApp is now available for Windows, saying users can press Alt + Space to bring instant Gemini assistance to the desktop alongside other apps and tools. Engadget reported that the app can be opened with a keyboard shortcut, just as it works on Mac computers.
Google said the app is useful when people need a quick fact-check on a document or a few catchy title ideas for a presentation. Engadget added that it would recommend fact-checking that fact-check because Gemini is generative AI.
The app integrates with other Google AI products, allowing tasks to be sent to the agentic assistant Gemini Spark. It also works with services including Gmail and Google Drive. Google said it can generate images and videos through Nano Banana and Gemini Omni.
Google described the app as lightweight and quiet, saying it will not slow down Windows PCs. It is available for download now. The company said more native desktop capabilities are coming in the future.
