iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max preorders open ahead of September 18 launch

The new models add a variable aperture main camera, a smaller Dynamic Island that can show three Live Activities at once, and the A20 Pro chip. 9to5Mac reported the chip brings 50% more memory bandwidth and 40% faster GPU performance. The Verge reported the processor has more GPU power and more neural cores for AI-related tasks. Battery life is listed at up to 24 hours of real-world use for the Pro and 30 hours for the Pro Max, with a next-generation vapor chamber and wired charging that reaches 50% in 15 minutes, according to 9to5Mac.

Storage configurations run from 256GB to 2TB. The Verge reported the 2TB iPhone 18 Pro costs $2,399 and the 2TB Pro Max costs $2,499. Both phones come in deep black, silver, glacier, and burgundy, according to The Verge; 9to5Mac listed the colors as burgundy, glacier, silver, and black. In the UK, TechRadar said the Pro starts at £1,199 and the Pro Max at £1,299.

At the start of preorders, The Verge reported that unlocked versions are available only directly from Apple. Best Buy and Walmart listed carrier-locked models: Best Buy offered the Pro and Pro Max through Verizon or AT&T, while Walmart offered the Pro through Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile and the Pro Max through T-Mobile, Verizon, or AT&T. Apple offered financing through 36 monthly payments with zero percent APR, the Apple Upgrade program, and trade-in credit up to $885, with carriers offering additional credits, The Verge reported. 9to5Mac also said purchasing options include paying outright, financing with Apple Card or a carrier, and the Apple Upgrade leasing program.

Carrier promotions vary. AT&T will cover the cost of an iPhone 18 Pro through billing credits over 36 months with a trade-in of an iPhone 14 or newer and an AT&T Extra plan, with lower discounts on cheaper plans, according to The Verge. T-Mobile is offering the iPhone 18 Pro free through bill credits for customers who switch or trade in a qualifying phone on the Experience Beyond plan; TechRadar reported the trade-in rebate can reach $1,200 and that existing customers on some older plans may also qualify. Verizon’s trade-in offer reaches up to $1,200 off, and its Simplicity Pro bundle includes the iPhone 18 Pro for $80 per month with a free upgrade after one year, both sources reported.

TechRadar also reported Verizon’s promotions can include a “free” iPad and Apple Watch when customers take cellular lines for those devices. In the UK, TechRadar said Apple offers up to £885 off with trade-in, Vodafone offers up to £885 off with trade-in, and EE offers up to £750 off with trade-in; it said Three and Vodafone are among networks stocking the devices. The iPhone Duo will open for preorder on October 16 and ship on October 23, according to 9to5Mac.
