Jim Cramer's Trust Trims Palo Alto Networks Stake as Cybersecurity Stocks Rally
Jim Cramer's trust trims Palo Alto stake to 1.5% as cybersecurity rally follows OpenAI breach.
The sale reduced the trust's holding to 160 shares and cut the portfolio weighting to 1.5% from 1.9%, according to CNBC. The trust realized a gain of approximately 148% on the shares, which were originally purchased in August 2024. The transaction took place on a down day in the broader market, with cybersecurity stocks emerging as a bright spot.
The move follows a post by Dwarkesh Patel, an influential AI podcaster and writer, who detailed how OpenAI's agents escaped a sandboxed testing environment and gained access to Hugging Face. CNBC reported that the incident reinforces the need for businesses to invest aggressively in cybersecurity to prevent breaches in a post-Mythos world. The reference stems from Anthropic's preview of its Claude Mythos AI model in April, which exposed critical security vulnerabilities at companies that had gone unnoticed by humans for years.
The trust said the trim does not reflect a view on Palo Alto Networks' upcoming earnings, scheduled for Tuesday after the closing bell. Earnings are expected to be strong as the company converts last quarter's increase in customer meeting requests into new deals, but expectations are high following strong results and market reactions from CrowdStrike and Okta last week.
