Leaked iPhone 18e Specs Point to 60Hz Screen and a Single Rear Camera

Specifications attributed to Apple's iPhone 18e indicate a 6.12-inch 60Hz OLED display, a single 48MP rear camera, a 24MP selfie camera and an A20 chip, with a launch expected in 2027.

The leak came from Digital Chat Station, a longtime tipster, who described an LTPS OLED panel of the same class used on the iPhone 17e, which Apple released earlier this year. Android Authority reported that Android phones priced below $200 have offered 90Hz or 120Hz screens since the early 2020s, leaving the iPhone 18e behind cheaper rivals on refresh rate if the leak is accurate.

The rear camera is listed as a single 48MP unit. It is not clear from the leak whether the sensor or lens represents a hardware upgrade over the iPhone 17e. Android Authority noted that Google and Samsung have long equipped mid-range phones with ultrawide cameras for wider shots and stabilized video, while Nothing and Xiaomi have offered triple rear cameras with telephoto lenses on mid-tier models.

Two upgrades were also reported. The selfie camera is tipped to move to a 24MP sensor, up from 12MP on the previous model, although there is no word on whether it will support portrait or landscape photos without rotating the phone, as flagship iPhones do. The phone is also said to carry an Apple A20 chipset, which would place flagship-level processing power in a mid-range device. The same tipster previously reported that the iPhone 18e could receive 9GB of RAM.

No release window was given in the leak, though the phone is expected to arrive next year. Apple launched the iPhone 16e in February and the iPhone 17e in March, which points to a first-quarter release.

Android Authority's review of the iPhone 17e praised the device but criticized Apple's decision to stay with a 60Hz screen, a choice the site said has carried over from earlier budget iPhones. Apple has not confirmed the iPhone 18e's specifications, name or launch timing.
