Playground Games Says Fable's Main Story Runs 15-20 Hours, Life Systems Are 'Limitless'
At Gamescom 2026, Playground Games said Fable's main story takes 15-20 hours, with another 15-20 hours of open-world and side content. It described the game's life systems as limitless.
Kennedy said the main storyline depends on how players approach it, but that the main story is around 15 to 20 hours. He added that there is probably about another 15 to 20 hours of open-world and side content to engage with.
TechRadar noted that the main story length is not a massive amount of hours compared with some other open-world RPGs, but that it gives fans an idea of what to expect when the game releases next year. Fable is scheduled to launch on February 23, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. The game has been in development for a long time.
Kennedy's later comments focused on the life systems, which Playground Games showcased in more depth earlier in the year. 'Honestly, with the life systems which we [shared an] in-depth look at and showcased earlier on in the year, that's limitless, and you can engage with it as much as you want,' he said. According to TechRadar, those systems include interacting with more than 1,000 unique non-player characters, buying real estate, committing crimes, and other activities. TechRadar reported that the life systems will offer even more playtime beyond the story and side content.
