Report: Google AI Pro Upgrade Cancellations Leave Some Students Without Prior Benefits

Students say Google canceled discounted AI Pro upgrades without request, leaving them without AI Pro or prior AI Plus benefits.

The complaints have appeared on Reddit and Google’s support forums, where multiple students described the same sequence. They signed up for a free 12-month Google AI Plus student offer, accepted a discounted upgrade to AI Pro, and then received cancellation and refund notices they said they had not sought. Their accounts reverted to the free tier rather than returning to AI Plus.

The cancellations also leave affected students without their original free benefits. Android Authority reported that Google’s existing policy may prevent them from recovering those benefits.

Google One support is reportedly escalating some cases for further verification, but Google has not confirmed a fix. Android Authority said it had contacted Google for comment.
