Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Gets 23% Amazon Discount as Flagship Prices Rise

TechRadar reports the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is 23% off on Amazon at AU$1,685 amid rising flagship phone prices.

According to the report, the past few months brought launches including Samsung's Z-series foldables, Google's Pixel 11 lineup, Apple's iPhone 18 Pro lineup and the iPhone Duo foldable. TechRadar said every new handset is more expensive than ever, a trend it linked to ongoing RAM and storage shortages; even older phones have quietly received price hikes, and the report said the latest smartphone releases will likely be too expensive for many consumers.

TechRadar said buyers do not need to settle for a previous year's flagship to save money, pointing to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which launched a few months ago. The publication called the S26 Ultra its pick for the best Android phone, citing powerful specifications, excellent cameras, AI features and a new privacy display screen. Its Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra review called the device the best Android phone ever.

The handset features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, 12GB of RAM, four rear cameras and a built-in Privacy Display, according to the report. TechRadar said it can hold up for years, especially with up to seven years of Android updates and security support. It also highlighted the Privacy Display as a major hardware innovation in a year of similar-looking phones, and noted Super Steady Horizontal Lock for video, the included S Pen stylus, and One UI 9, built on Android 17, with a redesigned quick settings menu, customizable Control Centre, My FanCam and improved multitasking controls.

TechRadar said it has seen the S26 Ultra cheaper elsewhere before, but this is the lowest price it has seen on Amazon. The report described the phone as a strong choice for users prioritizing raw power and smarts in an Android device, and said the discount makes it a good pick during a period of component shortages.
