Smarty Offers 40GB 5G and 4G SIM Plan for £10 a Month With No Long-Term Contract
Smarty’s £10 monthly rolling SIM plan includes 40GB of 5G and 4G data, unlimited UK calls and texts, and EU roaming, but EU data is capped at 12GB.
Customers pay monthly in advance, and Smarty promises no credit checks or annual price rises, TechRadar reported. Users can choose either a physical SIM or an eSIM, and 5G access is included at no extra cost when they have a compatible phone and coverage.
TechRadar said the combination of 40GB of data and a £10 monthly price should be enough for everyday browsing, social media, streaming, navigation and other mobile use without paying for unlimited data. The plan has no speed restriction, and the full UK data allowance can be used for tethering or a mobile hotspot, which could help connect a laptop or tablet away from Wi-Fi.
The plan also includes EU roaming and Wi-Fi calling. TechRadar noted that Wi-Fi calling could be useful if the mobile signal inside a home or workplace is not strong.
There are limits to the roaming feature. Although EU roaming is included, the full 40GB allowance cannot be used while travelling. EU data is subject to a 12GB monthly fair-use limit, and usage outside included European destinations requires an Out of Plan add-on, according to TechRadar.
Smarty may also suspend service if it identifies that a customer has used it outside the UK continuously for 60 days or longer within a rolling 12-month period, TechRadar reported. The plan is intended primarily as a UK mobile service rather than a SIM for extended stays overseas.
TechRadar said the plan is suitable for people who want plenty of mobile data without committing to a lengthy contract, citing the £10 monthly price, 40GB allowance, unlimited calls and texts, and the ability to cancel or change the plan each month. It added that people who regularly use considerably more than 40GB of mobile data each month or need a large roaming allowance may be better served by a larger data allowance.
