Tving Tops September Streaming App Installations Despite Data Breach Controversy
Tving's app drew a record 814,483 September installs, returning to No. 1 among streaming apps despite breach controversy.
The September total was up 43.8 percent from 566,538 in August, according to Mobile Index, a mobile analytics platform operated by IGAWorks. The figures covered new installations across Android and iOS devices and marked the second consecutive month of growth for Tving's app. The industry findings were released Sunday.
The increase put Tving back in first place among streaming apps in September. Tving had previously topped the rankings in June with 451,491 installations, the month the data breach was first disclosed.
Installations then plunged 24.6 percent to 340,409 in July as concerns over the breach grew, sending the platform down to sixth place, according to the Mobile Index data. The September rebound followed that decline and came as the breach controversy continued.
