25% of US Adults Interested in Foldable iPhone, Survey Finds

A CNET survey of 2,605 US adults shows 25% interest in a foldable iPhone, but willingness to pay falls far short of the expected $2,000-plus price.

Interest is highest among Millennials at 32% and Gen Z at 31%, followed by Gen X at 23% and Boomers at 13%. However, the price respondents are willing to pay is far below what Apple is expected to charge. Gen Z is willing to pay the most at $919, while the average across all US adults is $781. The actual price of the first foldable iPhone is likely to start at no lower than $2,000.

The survey's findings suggest that while a quarter of American adults find the concept appealing, actual adoption may be limited. Even as production costs fall in later generations, the price is unlikely to approach the levels respondents indicated. Analysts expect the device to remain a niche product due to its high cost and limited pocketability.
