Meta Quietly Launches Waddle World, a Free AI Pet Journal App
Meta quietly launched Waddle World, a free AI pet journal app, and Style Sketch, an AI fashion app, The Verge reports.
The Verge reported that Apple and Play Store listings describe the “16-bit pet care game” not as a conventional game but as “a daily journal disguised as a pet.” Users are told to talk, rather than type, with their pixel pets, and can play cozy games such as stacking groceries or word games. The report said the virtual creatures chat with users and create doodles to illustrate conversations. The Play Store description says the app offers “a little friend that listens” and “no pressure, no streaks to protect, no scores to chase.” It also says users can hatch a virtual pet, visit whenever they like and let it get to know them.
Waddle World was spotted by social media consultant Matt Navarra, according to The Verge. The listing says the app is free. The Verge reported that the cutesy, 16-bit pets come as Meta promotes a mascot and small Charm gadgets for its Muse AI agent.
Meta also quietly launched an AI fashion app called Style Sketch, which Navarra said is only available in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. The Verge said it could not independently verify those location restrictions.
The Verge said it was not clear whether Meta plans to release Waddle World or Style Sketch in the United States or elsewhere. The publication said it had reached out to Meta for more information about the apps and their availability.
