TechRadar's expert Mark, in a four-star review, said: "IronWolf drives feature CMR technology and AgileArray firmware, ensuring smooth RAID performance, reduced vibration, and efficient power management. The 180TB per year workload rating, the RV sensors, the three-year warranty, and the bundled Rescue Data Recovery Services have all persisted as defining features of the consumer tier."

The report notes that while the Best Buy discount is significant, the identical drive costs about $41.25 per terabyte at Newegg, making that the better value. The publication advises checking NAS manufacturer compatibility lists before purchasing, and reminds buyers that RAID is not a substitute for a separate backup system. It also suggests that users who prioritize silence or low power consumption may prefer an SSD over this 7,200 RPM mechanical drive.
