9to5Mac: Google Pixel 11’s new camera presets are a feature Apple should copy

The report explains that Camera Looks works similarly to Apple’s Photographic Styles, allowing users to adjust how a photo is captured before the shutter is pressed, rather than simply applying a filter afterward. Google includes several default presets, but also lets users fine-tune what each preset does.

Among the new preset options are Editorial, Velvet, Classic, Digi, Black Tie, and Minimal. 9to5Mac says these looks move away from the heavily processed appearance common in modern smartphone photos. Digi, for instance, deliberately reproduces the low dynamic range, contrast, and noise of compact digital cameras from the 2010s. Minimal, the report says, goes further by bypassing much of the HDR pipeline to produce a more natural, low-processed image.

The article acknowledges that iPhone users can already achieve a less processed look with ProRAW, but argues that doing so defeats the purpose of a smartphone camera. 9to5Mac suggests Apple should take a page from Google’s playbook and add a 'Minimal' style to the iPhone, giving users more control over how processed their photos look.
