Acer A640 4K webcam drops to $39.98 on Amazon, its lowest price yet
Amazon has cut the Acer A640 4K webcam to $39.98 in the US and £37 in the UK, the lowest price TechRadar says it has seen for the Sony-sensor model.
The camera combines a Sony 1/2.8-inch CMOS sensor with 4K recording at 30 frames per second. Buyers who prefer smoother motion can drop to 2K or 1080p, both of which run at 60fps. It also uses phase detection autofocus, which TechRadar describes as a welcome feature because it is designed to lock onto a subject quickly and reduce the focus hunting that can occur when someone moves around during a call or a stream.
The built-in microphone applies AI noise cancellation to reduce unwanted background sound, and automatic low-light correction adjusts exposure when a room is not particularly bright. A physical privacy shutter covers the lens when the camera is not in use, and Acer includes a USB-A to C adapter so the unit can be plugged into both desktops and newer laptops.
There are limits buyers should weigh. The headline 4K resolution is capped at 30fps, so reaching 60fps requires dropping to 2K or 1080p. The webcam has a microphone but no built-in speakers, and its 77.4-degree viewing angle is fairly narrow, which TechRadar says suits an individual rather than a group of people who need to fit into the same frame.
TechRadar's buying advice puts the A640 in the frame for remote workers, students and streamers who want higher-resolution video for meetings, classes or broadcasts without spending a large amount. It recommends the camera for people who make video calls regularly or produce video content, and suggests others skip it if they only call occasionally and their laptop's built-in camera already does the job.

Editor's Summary
Amazon has discounted the Acer A640 4K webcam to $39.98 in the US and £37 in the UK, which TechRadar calls the lowest price it has tracked for the model. The camera pairs a Sony 1/2.8-inch sensor, phase detection autofocus and an AI noise-cancelling microphone with 4K at 30fps or 1080p at 60fps, but offers no built-in speakers and a relatively narrow 77.4-degree field of view. The discount positions the A640 as a lower-cost option for remote workers, students and streamers rather than for occasional callers whose laptop cameras suffice.
