Acer unveils 799g Swift Blade 14 and a wave of new hardware at IFA 2026

The Swift Blade 14 is the first model in a new sub-brand of Acer's Swift line. It is 12.95mm thick and weighs 1.76 pounds (799g), a figure The Verge said is nearly a pound lighter than Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air. Carbon fiber is used on the top lid and bottom plate. Buyers get a choice of Intel Wildcat Lake processors from the Core 3 304 up to the Core 7 350, with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB of storage. Display options range from a 1920x1200 60Hz IPS screen rated at 300 nits to OLED panels at up to 2880x1800, 90Hz and 400 nits. The laptop has three USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 ports and a headphone jack. Engadget reported the first units will arrive in Europe, the Middle East and Africa in December, but prices have not been announced.

The Swift Air 16, a larger sibling in the Swift Air family, weighs 1.5 kilograms and is about 13mm thick. It uses the same Intel Wildcat Lake processor family, with an option for the Core 7 350, and supports up to 16GB of LPDDR5x memory and 512GB of storage. The 16-inch display can be a 3K OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and 500 nits of peak brightness, or an IPS multi-touch panel. Ports include dual Thunderbolt 4 and one USB-A, and the 70Wh battery supports a 50% charge in 30 minutes. Acer said it will be released in additional regions in December and in North America in the first quarter of 2027.

Among the company's other PC announcements, Engadget reported that Acer unveiled the Vero 16, a 16-inch laptop built for repair. Its features include a bottom latch that opens without tools, removable port covers, a detachable external hinge and an engraving that shows where the battery and motherboard sit. The chassis is made from low-carbon aluminum and meets MIL-STD-810H requirements. The battery and SSD can be replaced by the user, and Acer says the design allows processor upgrades for at least two generations. With top specifications, the Vero 16 comes with an Intel Core Ultra X9 processor 388H, 32GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, a 3K OLED screen and a 71Wh battery. It is a Copilot+ PC and will go on sale in EMEA early next year, with no North American launch details yet.

Acer also refreshed its monitor lineup, with Engadget counting eight new models. The headline display is the 24-inch Predator XB253Q U1, Acer's first 1080p monitor with a 1,000Hz refresh rate, which supports FreeSync Premium and G-Sync and will cost $1,099 when it ships in Q1 2027. The company also showed the curved 34-inch Nitro XZ340CKR P, priced at $1,199 in Q4 2026, and the 27-inch Predator XB273K V7, which starts at $499 in Q4 2026. Other new displays include the Predator X32 V3, three 27-inch Nitro models with dynamic refresh rates or Mini LED backlighting, and a 5K ProDesigner PE270X P, with prices starting at $299 and going up to $1,299.

In gaming hardware, Acer announced the Predator Atlas 7, a smaller companion to the existing Atlas 8. The handheld has a 7-inch 1080p touchscreen at 120Hz and can be configured with Intel Arc G3 or G3 Extreme processors, Arc B370 or B390 graphics, up to 24GB of memory and 1TB of storage. Acer will sell it with either a 60Wh or 80Wh battery, giving it a weight of under 700 or 750 grams, respectively. The device also has dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, a microSD card reader, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. It will go on sale in North America in Q4 2026 and in EMEA from November; pricing has not been announced.

Another gaming concept, Project DualPlay Mini, is a handheld with an 8-inch screen that flips open and swivels to reveal a backlit keyboard, creating a netbook-like machine. It can connect to an external display and uses dual cooling fans similar to those in the Predator Atlas 8. Acer did not indicate any retail plans for the concept, according to The Verge.

Android Authority reported that Acer confirmed at IFA that its first Googlebook is coming soon. The brief look at the machine showed a conventional clamshell laptop next to a Google Pixel phone, hinting at the cross-device integration Google has previously described. Android Authority said it may be officially unveiled at Google's September 15 Googlebook event. Previous leaks, the publication noted, connect the Acer Googlebook to a Core Ultra 5 processor, 16GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and a 14-inch OLED display.
