AdGuard VPN 2.17 Update Adds Siri Shortcuts and In-App Discounts for iOS and Android
AdGuard VPN released version 2.17 simultaneously for iOS and Android, adding one-tap Shortcuts and Siri voice controls on Apple devices, in-app discount alerts on Android, and support for non-Latin domain exclusions on both platforms.
For iPhone and iPad users, the release centers on a rebuilt Shortcuts integration. Users can place a Connect, Disconnect or Toggle button on the Home Screen or in Control Center, and can set background automations that turn the VPN on when a chosen app opens or when the device joins an unfamiliar public Wi-Fi network. The app also adds Siri support: by recording a custom trigger in the settings menu, such as "Hey Siri, connect to AdGuard VPN," users can control the connection by voice.
AdGuard described the problem the feature targets in its release post, describing a routine in which a user disables the VPN to check a bank account and then has to reopen the app to reconnect.
Android users receive a different addition. The app will now display active promotions and discounts on the purchase screen, so subscribers no longer have to search promotional emails or refresh the company's website to find a deal.
Both platforms gain an update to AdGuard's Exclusions feature, which lets users choose which websites bypass the encrypted tunnel. The feature now accepts domains written in non-Latin scripts, so users can whitelist domains such as *.рф for Russia and *.中国 for China without the app returning an error.
Version 2.17 is available to download now. AdGuard asked users who encounter bugs to report them through its social media channels or its GitHub repositories.
