Adobe Adds Acrobat Tools to Claude and Puts Photoshop, Firefly Inside Google Gemini
Adobe is adding Acrobat tools to its Claude plugin and bringing Photoshop, Lightroom, Adobe Express and Firefly into Google Gemini for users on all plans.
The Claude plugin already carried tools from Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Lightroom, InDesign, Adobe Express and Adobe Stock. The new Acrobat tools arrive in that same plugin across Claude and Claude Code on desktop, the web and mobile. Adobe said users can get started as a guest, or sign in with an Adobe account to unlock the full plugin experience, which includes higher usage limits, additional tools and continuity across sessions.
Inside Claude, the Acrobat tools let users organize PDFs by deleting, combining or splitting pages, redact sensitive information, and convert or export files to other formats. When users want more hands-on control, an interactive editor allows them to reorder pages, edit text, and mark up a document with comments and highlights. Adobe also introduced a Document Review skill that asks Claude to analyze a document and add recommendations and notations directly in the editor.
For designs, the plugin adds a layer-based interactive editor for Express, giving users control over individual elements rather than the whole file. Images, copy, colors and fonts can be selected and customized independently, so a design can be refined without regenerating it in full, and the work stays inside the Claude workflow.
The Gemini integration is available from the same day to users across all plans. Users navigate to Personal Intelligence, select Adobe under Connected Apps, and sign in with an Adobe account or create one for free. Adobe said users only need to describe what they want, and the company "orchestrates the right tools and steps to get you there."
In Gemini, Adobe describes three main workflows. Users can upload product photos and describe the look they are after, after which Adobe helps optimize lighting and color, crop images consistently and prepare a polished collection ready for a storefront, website or marketing materials. A single design can be turned into social-ready versions while preserving branding and messaging. Users can also describe a campaign, a target audience and a desired style, and Adobe will surface the Express designs that best match; from there they can ask Adobe to personalize text, imagery and colors to produce marketing materials.
For about a year, Adobe has been working to place its creative tools inside AI chatbots and productivity software, including ChatGPT, Slack and Copilot. The September 24 announcement extends both the number of assistants Adobe supports and the range of tools available within them. The company did not give a release timeline beyond the September 24 availability for Gemini and the immediate rollout of Acrobat tools in the Claude plugin.
Editor's Summary
Adobe is extending its creative software into two more widely used AI assistants, adding Acrobat PDF and review tools to its Claude plugin and placing Photoshop, Lightroom, Adobe Express and Firefly inside Google Gemini for all plan tiers. The announcement continues a year-long push to distribute Adobe's tools through chatbots and productivity apps rather than only its own applications, and it broadens what users can do with PDFs and design files without leaving those assistants.
