Adobe brings timeline-native generative AI to Premiere Pro
Adobe adds timeline-based generative AI tools to Premiere, letting editors create video and sound in place, plus new AI audio tools and an After Effects assistant.
Instead of jumping between browsers or external applications to find missing B-roll or audio elements, editors can now highlight an empty gap on the video or audio track and generate context-aware, fully editable clips in place. In the timeline, creators can choose from several underlying models, including Adobe Firefly, Google Veo, Runway, Luma and Kling, to match the style of their project.
Premiere is also adding new AI audio tools in beta that can separate overlapping speakers, automatically duck music underneath speech, and independently adjust dialogue and ambience. Adobe is additionally bringing its AI Assistant to After Effects in beta, where editors can use natural-language commands to reorganize projects, fix technical problems and create effects without needing to write expressions. The change is intended to make AI-generated material feel like a native part of professional editing rather than a detour outside the timeline, The Verge reports.
