Adobe Premiere Mobile Launches on Android

The Android release includes the core editing functions Adobe offered on iOS at no cost. Users can split, trim, crop and merge footage, adjust video speeds and add text, effects and audio layers such as voiceovers. Engadget reported that users can export an unlimited number of 4K videos without watermarks and in the size they want for any platform without paying. Android Authority said the Android app supports all functions of its iOS counterpart, including a wide range of templates and several generative AI editing tools.

Generative AI features are tied to purchases. Engadget reported the app is free with in-app purchases for its generative AI features. Users who need capabilities such as creating sound effects or accessing AI-generated assets on Adobe Firefly can buy generative AI credits. Android Authority reported that certain generative AI features will require a subscription after free credits expire. Extra cloud storage is also available through in-app purchase, according to Engadget.

Adobe said it plans to add more features to the app soon, including Adobe Fonts, enhanced captions and a continued or seamless editing experience with Premiere desktop. Android Authority noted that the iOS version had been the only mobile option until now, and that the Android launch had been expected after recent indications the exclusivity was ending.
