Ahnlab to Invest 100 Bln Won Over Three Years for AI-Native Transformation
Ahnlab will invest 100 billion won over three years in an AI-native shift, targeting 1 trillion won in sales by 2035.
The company announced the plan at a press conference in Seoul. It said the investment will focus on building artificial intelligence infrastructure, improving research and development capabilities, and attracting AI-related talent.
Ahnlab CEO Kang Suk-kyoon said the company aims to triple sales from 300 billion won this year to 1 trillion won by 2035. To reach that target, he said, Ahnlab would need to grow by an average of 15 percent a year. Given the company's growth trend, he said the goal is achievable, adding that Ahnlab could consider mergers and acquisitions or new investments to scale up.
The company also plans to raise overseas sales to 30 percent of total sales by 2035 from the current 10 percent. It intends to establish what it calls a cyber defense center in the Middle East. Kang said demand for data and AI sovereignty is growing in various regions.
Founded in 1995, Ahnlab is South Korea's largest cybersecurity company and is best known for creating the pioneering V3 antivirus software. In the first six months of this year, the company posted 130.37 billion won in sales and 7.3 billion won in operating profits, according to its regulatory filing.
