AI Video Apps Boom, Meitu Unlocks New Growth Space

As AI video apps surge, Meitu's vertical strategy drives rapid growth in paid users and ARR, with new platform MVLAND showing strong monetization.

Meitu, a Chinese company known for its imaging products, has adopted a distinct strategy in this competitive field. Unlike Higgsfield or Firefly, Meitu's AI video applications focus on vertical scenarios, deep user understanding, and specialized workflows. This approach began with Wink, a video enhancement tool launched in 2022, and expanded with Kaipai and Vmake Labs in 2023, targeting talking-head videos and marketing video workflows for domestic and overseas markets respectively.

Kaipai has become the leading product in the talking-head video segment in China, serving high-value industries such as insurance, education, and health. In June 2026, Kaipai launched an AI assistant composed of multiple agents, covering the entire process from account analysis and content planning to script writing and video generation. According to Meitu's latest financial report, as of June 2026, Kaipai's monthly active users grew over 100% year-on-year, paid subscribers grew over 150%, and annual recurring revenue (ARR) grew over 100%. Vmake Labs, targeting the U.S. market, also gained traction in fitness and health, with ARR reaching approximately $5 million.

In June 2026, Meitu launched MVLAND, a native AI video creation platform focused on music video production. It uses music analysis agents and creative canvases to transform rhythm and emotion into visual content. Within three months of launch, MVLAND achieved doubled ARR, and its monthly ARPPU reached about 220 yuan, 13 times the average across Meitu's other products. This demonstrates that users are willing to pay more when a product delivers high-quality results and supports their commercial goals.

Meitu's deep understanding of visual aesthetics, accumulated over more than a decade, combined with continuous user feedback, has become a competitive moat. The company's pivot from image editing to AI video creation has opened a new growth trajectory, and the market is now reevaluating Meitu's valuation.
