Ailing Launches Always-On Recording Bean as Wearable AI Recorder Race Heats Up

The bean carries an 80 mAh battery and a hidden Type-C charging port, allowing users to recharge it with a phone cable. Ailing said it uses a deeply customized dual-band Wi-Fi 6 chip that can transmit at up to 35 Mbps under low power, three to five times the industry average, so recorded data can be uploaded with almost no waiting. Two high-sensitivity omnidirectional microphones work with Ailing's patented sound-sensing start-stop technology, which records when sound is present and stops when it is silent, reducing useless all-day audio capture, lowering storage use and improving later AI compute efficiency.

Its companion app and SDK are cross-platform, covering iOS, Android, HarmonyOS, Windows and Linux. The device comes in obsidian gray, glacier silver, flame red and obsidian black, and has passed market access certifications in China, Europe, the United States and Japan. Ailing has opened the recording bean's hardware base and ecosystem kit to third-party cooperation, offering a turnkey package that includes ID design, hardware development, structural design, algorithm adaptation, firmware development, app development and global market access certification.

The viral AI ball from the unnamed top smartphone maker is worn clipped to clothing and claims 24-hour battery life. According to Leiphone, its exposure made the question of why independent recording hardware is needed a hot industry topic again. The demand pain points for always-on AI recording center on three areas: making capture easier without taking out a phone, using AI to transcribe conversations and extract key points and to-dos, and recording continuously to avoid missing verbal commitments or critical meeting data that appear outside planned moments. When records can be accumulated, searched and called up, wearable AI hardware can become a peripheral for a personal second memory.
