Alibaba Qwen to Power China-Market Cockpit AI in New BMW iX3
BMW's new-generation iX3 will use a China-specific cockpit AI jointly developed with Alibaba, built on the Qwen model and integrated by Banma.
Li Feifei, vice president of Alibaba Group and CTO of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Group, said Alibaba would take user scenarios as its starting point to make the new-generation BMW smart cockpit smarter and more natural, according to Leiphone.
Alibaba has become a full-stack AI technology partner for automakers, Leiphone reported. IDC data shows that in the second half of 2025, Alibaba Cloud ranked first in China's automotive public cloud IaaS market with a 42% share and has held the top position for five consecutive years. Nearly 30 automakers and smart-driving solution providers are conducting smart-driving R&D on Alibaba Cloud, with actual use exceeding 100,000 PPU cards. Alibaba AI has entered areas including smart cockpits, model training, software R&D and production manufacturing.
