Alibaba Updates Qwen3.8-Max, Takes Global Lead in Front-End Programming
Alibaba's refreshed Qwen3.8-Max claims the No.1 spot in front-end coding on CodeArena with a score of 1,691, and is priced at $5 per million tokens, outperforming pricier rivals.
The refreshed model scored 1,691 points on CodeArena, a dedicated third-party benchmark for web development, up 22 points from the previous version. That placed it ahead of competing models such as Claude Opus5 and Kimi K3. On CodeArena's Pareto frontier chart, which assesses cost performance, Qwen3.8-Max charges an average of $5 per million tokens, beating all models priced above $5 per million tokens.
Qwen3.8-Max is Alibaba Qwen team's most powerful model yet, with 2.4 trillion parameters and support for 1 million context tokens. The updated version exhibits stronger agentic coding capabilities, making it better suited for complex real-world enterprise tasks, scientific research, and long-horizon projects.
The new Qwen3.8-Max has been launched on the Qwen AI platform with API access, and has been integrated immediately by Qwen Office, Qoder, and the Qwen app, according to the report.
