Amazon cuts Apple M6 Mac mini to $779.99 in early discount

TechRadar described the Mac mini M6 as its top mini PC pick for content creators and small-business marketers who want a compact, quiet desktop for creative work at home, in an office or in a studio. The model uses Apple's new M6 chip and includes a 12-core CPU, a 12-core GPU, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, Wi-Fi 7 and support for up to three external displays. It measures 5 by 5 inches, weighs about 1.5 pounds and has HDMI and 2.5Gb Ethernet on the back, plus two USB-C ports on the front. The discount, however, applies only to the 16GB and 256GB model, TechRadar said, so buyers should check the price of the configuration they need.

TechRadar said it has not yet reviewed the newest model, but it expects better performance than the M4 edition, which the publication previously called possibly the best Mac ever. Its sister site Tom's Guide scored the M6 Mac mini 4.5 stars and was impressed by its video-editing performance. In a Handbrake test that transcoded a 25GB 4K video file down to 1080p, the M6 finished in 2 minutes and 45 seconds, nearly two full minutes faster than the M4, according to TechRadar. Tom's Guide concluded that the Mac mini M6 handles everything from local AI workloads to video editing and gaming with ease, TechRadar reported.

At $779.99, the machine is $119, or 13%, off Apple's $899 price, TechRadar said. The publication described it as one of the first discounts the Mac mini has seen and noted that Apple rarely discounts its desktops this soon after launch. TechRadar said the reduction helps bridge the gap between the value-driven M4 model and the new machine. The article's headline referred to a first $120 discount, while its price-context section listed the saving as $119 off $899.

TechRadar recommended the 2026 Apple Mac mini M6 for buyers who want what it called the best budget 4K video editing and photo editing machine, describing it as stylish, performance-driven and compact. It advised skipping the model for creative professionals working on theatrical-grade productions, for whom the Mac Studio is a better fit.

The Mac mini has long been a favorite desktop at TechRadar, which said the M4 edition was possibly the best Mac ever. The M6 model is a tiny desktop built around Apple's new M6 chip, and Amazon's offer is among the first price cuts for the machine.
