Amazon Fall Prime Day Cuts AirPods Pro 3 to $179 and AirPods Max 2 by $120

The AirPods Pro 3 price is $70 off the list price and within $10 of the lowest price Amazon has ever offered, according to the report. 9to5Mac said it had tracked that lower price only once since the product's release. The report added that Apple's new entry-level AirPods 5, which include active noise cancellation at the same $129 price as the previous model without the feature, are still awaiting holiday-level pricing. The upgraded AirPods 5 set with a Wireless Charging Case costs $149, meaning the AirPods Pro 3 can be bought for just $30 more, the report said.

9to5Mac said the AirPods Pro 3 offer a stronger case for most buyers than the new AirPods 5, citing three times better noise cancellation, longer battery life, onboard heart rate sensors, Hearing Aid features and what the report described as a better fit. The report also said AirPods 5 prices could eventually fall closer to $100 or less, but that history and the previous generation suggest it may not be until well into 2027 before they drop below $99. Even then, the report argued, the AirPods Pro 3 would retain those hardware advantages.

For buyers seeking Apple over-ear headphones, the AirPods Max 2 deal is $30 above the lowest price 9to5Mac has tracked on Amazon. The report said the $120 discount is only the second time the Max 2 have fallen this low since their release earlier this year, and only once have they sold for less.

The report also pointed to headphone deals from Sony and Bose and other discounts across the Apple ecosystem, while tying the AirPods offers to Amazon's fall Prime Day event. It did not provide an end date beyond the Midnight Cupertino time countdown on the AirPods Pro 3 deal.
