Amazon Kicks Off Early Prime Day Device Deals With Discounts of Up to 65%
Amazon has started early October Prime Day discounts on its own hardware, including Fire TV sticks, Echo speakers and Fire tablets, with savings of up to 65% ahead of the official Oct. 6-7 sale.
The early deals do not require a Prime membership, unlike the official Prime Day event, the report said, and TechRadar described the discounts as unusually deep for a pre-sale period, with several items at prices it said are normally reserved for Amazon's flagship shopping event.
Among the offers TechRadar listed, Amazon's standard Fire TV Stick is priced at $15.99, which the publication said is a new record low. The Fire TV Stick 4K Select is down to $17.99 from $49.99, and the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus carries a 46% discount. TechRadar noted that the 4K Select lacks some features of the pricier Plus and Max models, such as improved Wi-Fi and Dolby Atmos support.
On the audio side, the Echo Dot is discounted by 50%, the Echo Spot smart alarm clock is available for $54.99, and the Echo Dot Max carries a 33% reduction. TechRadar said the Echo Show 11, an 11-inch smart display with support for Alexa+, has received its largest discount to date.
Tablet and smart-home items are also included. The Fire HD 8 tablet is priced at $79.99, another record low, while the Fire HD 8 Kids tablet comes with parental controls, a protective case and a claimed 13-hour battery life. Amazon's smart plug is selling for $12.98, down from $24.98, and the Blink Video Doorbell 2K is on sale for $30.99.
The TechRadar roundup also pointed to discounts in categories beyond Amazon's own hardware, including Apple products from $29, laptops from $199, smart TVs from $69.99, vacuums from $34, mattresses from $186, kitchen appliances at 30% off and headphones at 50% off.
TechRadar said it does not expect the prices in its device list to fall further during the official October Prime Day sale. The publication's roundup covered 18 early device deals in total.
