Amazon October Prime Day discounts smart home gear, headphones, docks and speakers

Amazon's October Prime Day sale is live, with TechRadar reporting discounts on smart home upgrades, Anker Soundcore headphones, AirPods Pro 3, a Plugable Thunderbolt 4 dock and a JBL Flip 7 speaker.

For smart home shoppers, TechRadar said all the gadgets in its roundup are under £45, with some cut by more than 50%. Amazon's own smart-home devices and those from Amazon-owned brands are included, including a variety of Ring doorbells, Fire TV sticks, Echo smart speakers and Blink security cameras. Smart lighting from Nanoleaf and Govee also has price drops, while Hue bulb deals are present but less generous than the discounts highlighted in the roundup.

Anker's Soundcore Q20i noise-canceling headphones are among the budget audio deals. TechRadar's writer said they use the Q20i every day at work and praised their bass, hybrid active noise cancellation and ability to switch ANC off with a button. The headphones are now $38, down from $70, in the US and £30, down from £50, in the UK. They offer USB-C charging, longer battery life than the writer's previous model and a 3.5mm audio jack for wired use. The Prime Day price matches the previous low seen in December 2025, and TechRadar advised against buying them at full price because the Q20i is often discounted, with the biggest drops coming during Prime Day and Black Friday.

Another TechRadar reviewer named the Soundcore Space 2 over-ear headphones and Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro earbuds as their personal back-up audio gear. The Space 2 is now $99, down from $129, in the US and £99, down from £129, in the UK. The Liberty 5 Pro is $135, down from $169, in the US and £112, down from £149, in the UK. Both are made by Anker's Soundcore brand. TechRadar said they combine decent audio, long battery life, a comfortable fit and good active noise cancellation. The Space 2 launched at the beginning of the year, while the Liberty 5 Pro arrived a few months later. The Space 2 is now at a double-figure price and $10 cheaper than it has ever been, while the Liberty 5 Pro is 20% off in the US and may be at its first discounted price. In the UK, the Liberty 5 Pro has a quarter off across all four color options, though not the Pro Max model. The reviewer recommended these models over cheaper Soundcore products.

Apple's AirPods Pro 3 dropped to $179, down from $249, a $70 saving. TechRadar noted that this is not the lowest price ever, because they briefly fell to $169 in June, but said prices are unlikely to return to that figure before the sale ends. The AirPods Pro 3 add improved active noise cancellation and audio, a better in-ear design, live translation and the ability to track heart rate, workouts and calories burned. TechRadar called them a complete package for iPhone owners and said they are a no-brainer below $199, despite still under-par battery life. The site gave them a 4.5-star review. Other audio deals mentioned by TechRadar include older Bose QuietComfort earbuds, Sony flagship headphones and the Sony WH-CH520 on-ear headphones.

For desk setups, the Plugable TBT-UD5 Thunderbolt 4 Dock is now $170, down from $200, in the US and £207, down from £258, in the UK. TechRadar said it provides 13 ports from a single laptop connection, including HDMI, USB-A, USB-C, SD and microSD card readers, Gigabit Ethernet and audio connectivity. It supports 40Gbps Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, dual 4K 60Hz HDMI displays or a single 8K display, and up to 100W power delivery, with 96W certified. The dock is driverless and works with supported Windows and macOS systems. TechRadar said this is the cheapest it has seen the dock and that it is best for home workers and professionals who regularly connect a laptop to multiple screens and accessories. It advised skipping it for those who need only a few extra USB ports or a single monitor connection.

The JBL Flip 7 portable speaker is $109.95, down from $149.95, in the US. In the UK, Amazon does not have the discount, but Very has the speaker for £99, down from £129. TechRadar's writer took the speaker on a kayaking holiday, dropped it in a river and on the floor, used it next to an open fire and took it into the shower, and said it still looks and sounds brand new after more than a year. The Flip 7 is waterproof and rugged, with up to 14 hours of battery life, punchy bass and good volume. It has swappable attachments including a carabiner and carrying strap and sits at the top of TechRadar's guide to the best Bluetooth speakers.
