Amazon October Sale Cuts Prices on New Apple and Google Wearables as Garmin Launches Two Watches
Amazon's October sale brought the first discount on the Apple Watch Series 12 and lower prices on the Pixel Watch 5 and Pixel 11 phones, while Garmin launched the Enduro 4 and Approach S72 on the same day.
Android Authority reported that Amazon has the Apple Watch Series 12 GPS 42mm for $349.99, down from $399.99, a $50 discount and 13% off the recommended retail price. It said this is the lowest price since the watch launched. The Series 12 uses Apple's new Health Sensing System, which adds readiness insights based on activity, training load, vitals and sleep data, and it ships with watchOS 27 features including new gesture controls and tighter Apple Intelligence-related integration. The 42mm GPS model has up to 24 hours of battery life, WR 50M water resistance and IP6X dust resistance, according to Android Authority. TechRadar reported the same $349.99 price for the 42mm GPS model and said the 46mm GPS model is $399.99, down from $449. It added that the Apple Watch SE 3 starts at $199.99, down from $249, for the 40mm GPS model. In the UK, TechRadar reported that the Apple Watch Series 11 is £259, down from £319, for the 42mm GPS model and £278.02, down from £349, for the 46mm GPS model, while the Apple Watch SE 3 starts at £199.99, down from £249.
The Verge reported that the Google Pixel Watch 5 is discounted during the same Amazon sale, with the 41mm version at $334.99 and the 45mm version at $364.99. The Verge article said the discount was $60, while its headline described it as a $65-off deal. The watch launched alongside the Pixel 11 phones in August with improved GPS, gesture controls and offline Gemini. The Verge said the discount helps offset the Pixel Watch 5's $50 price increase over the Pixel Watch 4 and came soon after the watch's release. It also said Google is continuing to expand the watch's functionality after some new health features were not ready for its initial review, and that it had mixed results with Google's AI assistant's proactive notifications ahead of launch.
TechRadar reported that every Pixel 11 model and the Pixel 10a are on sale at Amazon. In the US, the Pixel 10a is $524, down from $599; the Pixel 11 is $749, down from $899; the Pixel 11 Pro is $969, down from $1,219; and the Pixel 11 Pro XL is $999, down from $1,299. In the UK, the Pixel 10a is £399, down from £499; the Pixel 11 is £749, down from £879; the Pixel 11 Pro is £999, down from £1,079; the Pixel 11 Pro XL is £1,099, down from £1,279; and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is £1,449, down from £1,799. TechRadar's buying guide said the Pixel 10a is the cheapest option but uses a Tensor G4 chipset that is two generations old, while the Pixel 11 adds a Tensor G6 chipset, 12GB of RAM and a triple-lens camera with a 10.8MP telephoto offering 5x optical zoom. It described the Pixel 11 Pro as a compact flagship with a 6.3-inch display that can reach 3,600 nits and up to 16GB of RAM on the 1TB model, the Pixel 11 Pro XL as the same phone with a larger 6.8-inch screen and a 5,115mAh battery, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold as the priciest model with an 8.0-inch foldable screen and a 6.5-inch cover screen but weaker camera specs than the Pro models.
TechRadar reported that Garmin launched the Enduro 4 and Approach S72. The Enduro 4 has a 1.4-inch MIP display and up to 90 days of battery life, which Garmin says makes it the company's longest-lasting GPS smartwatch. It replaces the Enduro 3's nylon hook-and-loop band with a new ComfortFit fabric band and adds dedicated power modes, grade-adjusted pace-based workout targets and the Fenix 9 Pro's Epic and Stamina features. It is otherwise similar to the Enduro 3, including a 57g weight and a Power Sapphire lens, titanium bezel and polymer shell, and it costs $899.99, £799.99 or €899.99. The Approach S72 is priced at $799.99, £699.99 or €799.99 and includes golf biometric data that lets users analyze performance on the green through heart rate and match it to key moments in their game. It supports phone calls and voice commands and offers up to 20 hours of battery life or up to 16 days with GPS switched off, according to TechRadar. Compared with the more expensive Fenix 9 Pro, the Enduro 4 lacks a 3,000-nit AMOLED display, a titanium case, a built-in speaker and microphone, and double the internal storage, but it offers up to 90 days in smartwatch mode or up to 320 hours in activity mode, versus up to 10 days for the Fenix 9 Pro, and has solar charging. TechRadar also reported that Amazon is selling the Garmin Fenix 8 47mm in Black for $729.99, down from $999.99, in the US, and for £595.96, down from £699.99, in the UK.
