Amazon Unveils New Kindle Lineup and Cuts Colorsoft Kids to $209.99
Amazon announced updated Kindle, Colorsoft, and Paperwhite models, a new Bluetooth page-turner, and a $90 discount on the 2024 Kindle Colorsoft Kids.
The base Kindle is Amazon's lightest yet and starts up 30% faster than the previous generation, Android Authority reported. It has a six-inch display and an edge-to-edge colorful design. The 16GB model is available in Ube and Graphite for about $150. A 32GB model with an aluminum back comes in Alpine Sky and Seaglass Green for around $180.
The new Kindle Paperwhite has a seven-inch screen and is thinner and lighter than before. Amazon gives it an extra-high-contrast display and a waterproof build. The 16GB version comes in Graphite for $200. The 32GB Signature Edition adds Seaglass Green as an option and has an aluminum back for $250.
For readers who want color, the upgraded Kindle Colorsoft focuses on display quality. According to Android Authority, Amazon worked to minimize stray light and optimize contrast. The 16GB model comes in Graphite and sells for $290. The 32GB Signature Edition has an aluminum build, supports a charging dock, and includes an auto-adjusting front light; it adds a Fig color option and sells for $320.
All three updated Kindles will also be available in Kids editions with colorful book-style cases. Amazon's new accessories include the usual covers and a charging dock for the Paperwhite Colorsoft Signature Editions. The Kindle Click remote is a Bluetooth device designed to flip pages, supports Kindles from 2024 and later, and costs about $35.
The Kindle Colorsoft Kids deal applies to the 2024 model. It has a color E-Ink touchscreen for comics, illustrated books, and colorful covers, plus 16GB of storage and six months of Amazon Kids+. Amazon includes USB-C charging, an auto-adjusting front light, Dark Mode, and up to 12 weeks of battery life. The device also supports Bluetooth for VoiceView accessibility and appears to support wireless charging with an optional dock, according to Android Authority. Shoppers have given it a 4.4/5 rating. At $209.99, the discount is 30% off the $299.99 retail price and the lowest price seen for the reader since Prime Day.
