Amazon’s October Prime Day Opens With Discounts Across Phones, Audio and Streaming

Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days began Oct. 6 and runs through Oct. 8. The Verge and TechRadar highlighted discounts on Apple, Samsung, Google, Bose, Sonos, Roku and Anker products, including phones, tablets, headphones, speakers and streaming devices.

The Verge said it changed how it presents deals. Instead of a long, scroll-heavy post, it placed deals in a table that readers can sort by category. The publication said it will add more deals as it finds them and will include links to category-specific roundups published throughout the sale. It also said its flagship article contains more than 100 deals spanning categories including noise-canceling headphones, e-readers, laptops and gaming gear.

Among Apple products, The Verge listed the iPhone Air at $839.99, down from $999.99, at Best Buy for the 256GB model. It described the iPhone Air as Apple’s thinnest iPhone yet at 5.6mm, with a 6.5-inch ProMotion display, a 48MP fusion camera and an 18MP front camera with Center Stage support. The Verge added that its single rear camera and meh battery life mean it is not for everyone. The iPhone 16E is $489.99 at Best Buy for 128GB, down from $599.99; The Verge called it the spiritual successor to the iPhone SE with flagship-level performance, and said it wished the phone included MagSafe at $599. The Verge’s guide also cited the AirPods Pro 3 at $179, more than $100 off the new M6 Mac Mini, $200 off the M5 MacBook Air for the first time in months, and a slightly cheaper iPad Mini during Prime Day. It said the easiest Apple Watch to recommend is $50 off.

For Samsung and Google phones, The Verge reported the Galaxy S26 Ultra at $979.99, down from $1,299.99, at Amazon for 256GB; Best Buy has the same model at $1,099.99, and Amazon has the 512GB model at $1,179.99, down from $1,499.99. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is $1,549.99 at Amazon, down from $1,899.99, or $1,649.99 at Best Buy. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is $1,699.99 at Amazon, down from $2,099.99, or $1,849.99 at Best Buy. The Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro are $135.99, down from $169.99, at Amazon and Anker; The Verge said they have the best call quality of any earbuds it has tried and also sound great for music. The Nothing Headphone 1 are cheaper than ever, according to The Verge’s guide. For home audio, the Sonos Beam second-gen soundbar is $140 off, and the Sonos Sub 4 is $749, down from $899, at Amazon, Sonos and Best Buy. The Roku Streaming Stick Plus is $34.99, down from $59.99, at Amazon, Walmart and Best Buy, with 4K playback and a slim design. The Belkin Charging Case Pro is $80.74 at Amazon in sand, down from $99.99, or $84.99 at Belkin; The Verge described it as a battery-and-kickstand case with a built-in display for the Switch 2. The Verge guide also mentions an Anker universal travel charger for $64.

TechRadar focused on the Bose SoundLink Micro Gen 2. It said the speaker won a blind portable speaker showdown earlier this year, in which four participants ranked models without brand names, appearances or other preconceptions. Even against rivals from JBL and Ultimate Ears, the Bose model came first, with listeners praising its low-end thump, dynamics, sparkling highs and instrument separation. TechRadar said its high price had previously prevented a regular recommendation, but it is now $99.99, down from $129, in the US and £79.95, down from £119.95, in the UK during the Amazon Prime Day Big Deal Days sale. The US discount applies only to the Dewdrop Mint colorway, and the UK discount applies only to the Petal Pink colorway, according to TechRadar.

TechRadar described the SoundLink Micro Gen 2 as having detailed sound for its size, aptX support, customizable EQ, IP67 dust and waterproofing, about 12 hours of battery life and a fabric strap for attaching it to a bag, bike or shower head. It said the speaker can produce a balanced sound with punchy bass, rich mids and articulate treble, or a bass-heavy sound for more energetic tracks. In the blind test, TechRadar said, several participants found its low-end output more full-bodied and dynamic than the JBL Go 5.
