AMD Tops $1 Trillion Market Cap for First Time as Five-Day Rally Extends

AMD shares jumped 9% on Monday, reaching a record high and pushing the chipmaker above $1 trillion in market value for the first time, according to CNBC.

The stock hit an intraday high of $613.92, which put AMD's valuation just above $1 trillion. The move extended a five-day winning streak during which the shares gained about 24%.

The rally marked a rebound for investors after the stock fell last month, when the company reported second-quarter earnings that beat expectations, according to CNBC.

AMD reported second-quarter revenue of $11.54 billion, up 50% from $7.69 billion a year earlier. The company's artificial intelligence chips were central to that growth. Its Data Center unit reported sales of $6.7 billion, up 107% from a year ago.

The chipmaker's stock has risen more than 180% this year. Even so, AMD remains behind AI chip leader Nvidia, which has a market capitalization of about $5.4 trillion.
