Anbernic unboxing video reveals full specs of Switch Lite-like RG 55G1 handheld

Anbernic's unboxing video for the RG 55G1 reveals specs such as Snapdragon G1 Gen 2, up to 8GB RAM/128GB storage, Android 14, a 5.5-inch 1080p display and a 6,000mAh battery. Price and release date remain unannounced.

The RG 55G1 is shown in three colors: Indigo, Retro Gray, and Black. The retail box contains the handheld and a user manual. The listed specifications include a Qualcomm Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 processor, Adreno A12 GPU, 4GB or 8GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of built-in storage, expandable storage up to 2TB, a 5.5-inch IPS display with 1080p resolution, and Android 14. Connectivity options are Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0. The device has a 6,000mAh battery rated for eight hours of use, supports 18W charging, and weighs about 339 grams.

Android Authority notes that Anbernic also showcased what the device can play. The RG 55G1 is expected to run Android games, emulate handheld platforms such as PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS, PSP, and GBA, and handle consoles including PS1, PS2, Wii U, and Wii.

Anbernic first teased the RG 55G1 in April. That earlier video confirmed Hall-effect joysticks and triggers, but it did not include the level of detail seen in the unboxing video. Two unanswered questions remain: the release date and the price. With two configurations listed, Android Authority says there will be at least a cheaper variant.
