According to Android Authority, the update does not introduce one game-changing feature that transforms how a phone is used, but it makes an unusually large number of smaller adjustments across those areas. The publication described the release as having a lot to unpack.
Google's Mishaal Rahman outlined what is changing with the release in a detailed Reddit post, the report said.
Android 17 has been stable for several months, and the QPR1 release follows no fewer than nine beta versions. Users who tracked those betas closely, or who own a Pixel 11, are likely to recognize part of what the update contains, according to the report.
Google has not said when the release will reach devices from other manufacturers. The company's position is that the additions are now part of the wider Android platform, leaving the timing of their arrival in third-party updates to individual device makers.
