Android 17 QPR2 Beta 4 adds an 'Agents' privacy dashboard to monitor AI agents' access to apps and data.

The feature appears to be part of Android's upcoming Privacy Dashboard for AI activities. It is designed to track not only agents created with Google's Spark tool but also those using third-party services. This provides a centralized view of background agents, which have become a key element of AI-assisted workflows.

Agentic workflows allow users to delegate multistep tasks to assistants like Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude with minimal human intervention. Google has been working on enabling such automation for tasks ranging from ordering food online to booking and planning entire trips directly from Android devices. However, Gemini is not the only app capable of creating and running agents in the background, so a dedicated dashboard helps users keep tabs on what these agents do, especially when operating in the background.

The "Agents" page does not yet show any agents in this beta, and Google has not detailed how the dashboard will populate or manage permissions. Additional changes are likely in future beta releases before the stable Android 17 launch.
