Android Authority Poll Finds About 68% of Responding Pixel Owners Report New Problems After Android 17 QPR1

The poll ran for roughly two weeks and had drawn 1,458 responses as of Sept. 30. Nearly 1,000 of those respondents selected one of the options describing a new problem, while the remainder chose the option stating that the update had caused no new issues.

Readers who reported trouble were asked to pick among performance, connectivity, display, unexpected UI behavior, or a catch-all category for other problems. Performance took the largest share at about 19 percent. Unexpected UI behavior followed with 16 percent, and new display glitches were reported by 14 percent. Just over 11 percent said they had new connectivity trouble, and about 7 percent reported new problems that did not fit the listed categories.

The single most popular answer was that Android 17 QPR1 has not caused any new issues, chosen by close to a third of all respondents. The poll's results describe only the readers who chose to answer it and do not establish that two-thirds of Pixel users generally are affected. The Android Authority writer who reported the results said their own Pixel 9 Pro has been fine since the update, and some readers commenting on the site also described a smooth experience.

The survey followed weeks of user posts on forums and social media from Pixel owners who said the September update had disrupted some part of their phone's operation. Android Authority said the complaints it tracked covered a range of functions rather than a single fault.
