Android Authority Poll Picks Motorola Edge (2026) as Readers' Top Galaxy S26 FE Alternative

The Galaxy S26 FE is Samsung's latest Fan Edition model, a line positioned as a way for buyers to get a taste of flagship features at a lower price. This year the phone costs $50 more than the S25 FE while offering few upgrades in return, according to Android Authority, which described it as arguably not the best mid-range phone available in 2026. The outlet's Andrew Grush listed two Google Pixels, a Samsung device and a Nothing phone as alternatives he would rather buy, and the site then asked readers to vote on their preferred substitute.

The Edge (2026) won with 25.6% of the vote, 22 votes ahead of the Galaxy S26 at 25.4%. According to Android Authority, the Motorola phone offers 68W rapid charging, a compact size and a range of color options, and it is far cheaper than the $900 Galaxy S26. Motorola products have scored well in the outlet's polls this year; the Edge (2026) came extremely close to winning its poll for the best Google Pixel 11 alternative, narrowly losing to the Galaxy S26.

The Pixel 11 took third place with 20.3% of the vote, followed by the Nothing Phone 4a Pro at 16.4% and the Pixel 10a at 8.1%. Android Authority noted that the Nothing and Pixel 10a are by far the cheapest options on the list, yet many readers did not appear to value that. A further 3.8% of voters named alternatives of their own.

One commenter, posting as bucktoothzombie, recommended the Motorola Edge 2025, writing that it "is one of the best phones you can get for the price" and that "it beats most phones in its range, no question." The commenter added that looking into the hardware and chipset explains the recommendation. Android Authority closed the report by asking readers whether the Edge (2026) deserved the win or whether another phone is a better proposition.
